Wine Route: Golan Heights

“And the trees said to the vine, 'Go and reign over us. And the vine said to them, 'Shall I leave my wine, which makes God and men rejoice, and go and sway over the trees? ” (Judges 9:14)

The Golan Heights is a truly exciting and fascinating region, full of history, archeology, landscapes and wild nature. Thanks to the cool and unique climate and its basaltic soils, the region is one of the best, most dynamic and renowned wine regions in Israel. On our tour, we enjoy all of this at the same time that we combine a visit to several wineries.

We start the tour with a breathtaking view of the Sea of Galilee and the Jordan Valley, enjoying a refreshing bottle of wine from the region. Continue to the first winery of the day, Chateau Golan. The history of the winery began in 1996, when the Ribak family of Eliad, planted hectares of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot on their farm. They are currently growing Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Grenache, Merlot, Petty Verdu, Toriga National, Morbader and Sauvignon Blanc. The winery, which offers a charming visitor center, mixes contemporary knowledge and technology with traditional European winemaking methods and produces complex and elegant wines.

The next stop will be a second impressive lookout from the peak of Bental Mountain, in the northern part of the Golan, where we will enjoy a beautiful view of all the Golan Heights, Hermon Mountain and the Syrian border below the mountain. Great opportunity to hear the legacy of the battle.

From there, we will continue to our second winery of the day, Golan Heights Winery. The winery is considered Israel's leading winery in terms of wine quality, technological innovation and the development of new varieties. Since it was founded in 1983, Golan Heights Winery has played a very significant role in the development and cultivation of Israel's current wine culture. All wines have consistency, excellence and a persistent commitment to quality. The winery's Yarden brand is identified worldwide with high quality Israeli wines and consistently wins prestigious awards and medals around the world.
Although it is a large commercial winery, it is a must visit in the Golan wine region, especially in the case of our VIP accommodation in its secret cellar and the tasting of only its premium wines.
